To have Google open new tabs from search results everyone else tells you to go to Settings, then Advanced Search, then [Customize your search settings] and that is a true and valid way of doing it and Google will set a cookie and remember it.
But there's another option if you don't want to dig for that (or click that link).
If you searched for "search terms" (without quotes) your URL will be something like this abomination:
Protip 1: If you want to send that to someone all you really need is the q=* part, so you can chop that down to this and it will work just fine:
Protip 2: You can make the links open in new tabs by adding
&newwindow=1 to the end of the URL.
You could do it with the longer link to but who wants all that tracking junk in your URL?
